Turning heels

I’ve made significant progress so far this Socktober. I got the sock yarn all plied and ready for finishing. There’s definitely enough for a pair of socks, which I was worried about. Now I’m worried that I didn’t ply it tight enough. Guess I’ll find out when the socks are worn. Until then I’m incredibly pleased with this yarn. It feels super nice and I can’t wait to knit with it.

To get the handspun I need to clear a set of needles. That actually looks like it might happen soon. A few afternoons of roleplaying and a Maker’s brunch has resulted in the City Lights socks being almost complete and one completed heel on the Joyful socks. As you can see in the pics below, I’m trying two different kinds of gussets for heel flap socks for these two pairs. I’ll take notes as to which one I like wearing better, and as compared to my current pairs which have fish-lips-kiss heels, with the ultimate goal of picking one as a standard heel for my feet.

So, how’s your Socktober going? Let me know in the comments or come find me on Ravelry.
